5 activities to do with your Children at home

During the Coronavirus lockdown, our superstar host, Tiana, 6, from Romford, has been filming and posting kids activity videos on The Liberty’s Facebook page. Her videos include storytelling, baking and arts and crafts, Tiana wants to use her videos to bring her local community together and engage with other children who may be missing their friends.

Spending more time at home with your children and keeping them entertained can be challenging, which is why we at The Liberty have put together some of our favourite Kids Corner activity videos together to inspire you during the Coronavirus lockdown, or simply for a rainy day with little to do.

Say Cheese

It’s National Cheese Day on Thursday 4th June and what better way to celebrate than by making your very own rainbow cheese toastie? When you’re next doing your food shop, ensure you pick up a few different coloured food colourings, a loaf of bread and some grated cheese. Watch the video below to see how Tiana creates the latest food trend!

Wind down with story time

Virtual storytelling is a great way of allowing your child to engage with another person, educating them and encouraging them to wind down before bed. Here Tiana reads ‘Mega Magic Hair Swap’, a debut book by Rochelle Humes. The tale follows two little girls, Mai and Rose who dream of having each other’s hair. However, they soon learn that perfect hair is not everything it’s cracked up to be…

Create your own paper flowers

3D flowers are a great craft activity for kids to enjoy when at home. Various flowers can be made and they can be hung up around the house, or sent to loved ones in the post for special occasions.

Share your message

A great way of keeping your little ones busy and allowing them to share their messages with friends and family is by creating message banners. All you need is paper or card, some coloured pens, some pegs and some string or ribbon. Encourage your children to write messages such as ‘ I miss you’, ‘Happy Birthday’ or ‘Thank You NHS’ and send pictures of them to their friends and loved ones to brighten up their day. See the video below to get started!

Enjoy exercise

Get your kids moving with fun exercise regimes. Try asking them to be your personal PT and come up with 5 various exercises to do in the house or garden. From skipping to star jumps, there are many forms of exercise that both you and your children can enjoy together. Follow Tiana’s top tips here.
