How do you feel about being a finalist in the 2016 Fashion Design Competition? When I first entered the competition it didn’t even cross my mind that I would be in with a chance of being one of the finalists and when I found out that I got through I was amazed. These kind of opportunities don’t come around everyday so you have to grab them with both hands. I’m really glad that I decided to take that step and just enter as you never know what the outcome will be. I feel this competition has helped to open my eyes to all the chances there are and made me realise that I am capable of chasing my dreams.
What does ‘style’ mean to you? To me style is a way for each individual to wear their personality and let the whole world see them for who they are through clothes and fashion. Fashion allows you to express yourself and lets you be who you want to be as there are no limits to style. I love to have my own style as it makes me feel unique and different as who wants to follow everyone else and just blend in?
Who is your style icon? I don’t really have a style icon as such but I feel my design is kind of inspired by Jean Seberg, as she is known for her laid back Parisian style. I love the way she makes the style look so easy to pull off yet it iss unique to each person.
Please summarise the concept behind your design in one sentence: I designed this garment to express individuality and I felt it was quite different and unique but very minimalistic at the same time as a result creating effortless style.
