Blogger Challenge – Charnelle
Essex based blogger; Charnelle Geraldine is one of three bloggers who were invited to take part in The Liberty’s Blogger Challenge. Her goal was simple; find a whole new summer look for £100 from our 100+ stores (easier said than done when there are so many stores to choose from!) let’s see how she got on…
So I spent the day shopping at The Liberty and it was super fun. I took my little sister, aka blog photographer, with me and we had a great time hunting through some of my favourite high street shops for the perfect summer outfit.
I stopped by H&M, which is my all-time favourite store and tried on what felt like the whole shop. I was teased by an array of seaside-striped shirts and cute tailored shorts. If you have read my blog then you will know I love a good classic shirt and tailoring. Also, there were pretty pastel colours and I was particularly drawn to the accessory section.
Recently I have been completely sucked into the ultra-feminine, ethereal, romanticised dresses that were all over the catwalks for SS17.
My idea of the perfect outfit for summer is a floaty, floral dress you can swish about in. I wanted to hunt out the ultimate classic dress that would suit a lot of women and I think I found it in Topshop.
The dress I opted for was this modest, stunning midi dress in an ivory colour that has pink undertones and a soft floral print. As soon as I saw I knew it was the one! The dress is semi sheer and has cute ruching details on the sleeves, as well as a slight hanky-style hem.
What really makes this piece is how it moves when it is on. The fabric is so light that you can’t help but twirl in it. It’s a real ‘feel-good’ dress, one of those that when you put it on you automatically feel feminine, flirty and sophisticated.
I think it is a great idea to invest in a handful of pretty dresses for summer as they are easy to wear and can be adapted for both day and evening wear.
A dress such as this one from Topshop can be worn on a trip to the park with some wedge sandals and a cross body bag or to an evening meal with some gold barely-there heels and statement earrings. With minimal effort you can put together a statement look that would suit women of all ages and sizes.
Topshop have so many gorgeous, highly feminine dresses at the moment and The Liberty store boasted some spot-on florals.
To go with my dress I wanted to opt for some seaside-ready accessories, to really up that ‘summer factor’.
Hot on the high street right now are neutral tone accessories and woven straw materials, such as wicker bags, floppy straw beach hats and espadrilles. I went back to H&M and picked up a straw clutch bag, which has a shimmery gold coating to it. It is so cute and gives me those traditional British beach vibes. I then went for some brown, wooden wedge sandals and statement gold earrings from Primark to complete the nude tonal palette and chic, seaside feel of my look.
I love this outfit and if you want to achieve this style on a slightly more affordable budget, Primark and New Look in The Liberty are both offering lots of cute, floaty dresses for you to choose from.
Shopping at The Liberty was so easy and a really enjoyable experience. Parking in Romford is a breeze with so many car parks surrounding the town centre, so hauling all of my shopping back to the car was really easy afterwards. The train is also only a two-minute walk away from The Liberty.
Romford has a little place in my heart. The town has a lot of character with street entertainers, friendly people, cute little flower stalls and The Liberty has all of the high street favourites you could need right under one roof. I thoroughly enjoyed my day shopping at The Liberty and felt very summer ready when I left.
If you love Charnelle’s look, come and see her strut her stuff on our catwalk in her purchases from The Liberty on Saturday 3rd June. But don’t forget to vote for her outfit if her flatteringly feminine floral dress is your favourite summer look in our Blogger Challenge >>> http://www.theliberty.co.uk/peoples-choice-award-vote/
