How do you feel about being a finalist in the 2016 Fashion Design Competition?: I entered it as I was looking for something fun to do and get creative with but didn’t think too much about becoming a finalist at first. However when I found out I had I was over the moon! I was really excited and happy I had been chosen and my brain instantly went into overdrive thinking about everything I was going to need to create my outfit from fabrics to fastenings.
What does ‘style’ mean to you?: The word style can be taken in many ways but to me style isn’t simply saying ‘I love anything bohemian’ or ‘I only wear what’s on trend’, its more about how you dress and what that says about your personality. It doesn’t matter where the clothes come from, its how you wear those clothes, what accessories you team it with and how they make you feel in your day to day life.
Who is your style icon?: My style icon would have to be Alexa Chung, she dress with such grace and elegance but always with a chic edge. She’s not afraid to wear vintage items and can easily make any garment desirable. Her red carpet outfits always seem effortless and feminine, from tailored items to floaty dresses.
Please summarise the concept behind your design in one sentence: The concept is to be feminine with a futuristic twist but also to be tactile and intriguing with the use of beading and stitching
