Mia Louise-Lambert: The Secret Garden SS16
Name: Mia-Louise Lambert
From: Romford, Essex
Design Title: The Secret Garden SS16
How do you feel about being a finalist in the 2016 Fashion Design Competition?: I feel completely honoured to be among the chosen finalists and I’m so excited to be doing this project. I feel this is an amazing opportunity, win or lose, and I’m going to get a lot of knowledge and experience from it. There are so many great concepts from the other contestants and I feel privileged to be a part of it.
What does ‘style’ mean to you?: Style to me means individuality, it means being able to set yourself apart from everyone else, or even to follow trends and wear what everyone else is wearing, that’s cool too, there’s no boundaries when it comes to fashion, wear whatever makes you feel good! Style can be taking what you feel within and expressing it through what you wear. Your style can be a way of expressing your personality, I feel thats sometimes you can tell a lot about someone from how they style themselves.
Who is your style icon?: I wouldn’t say I had a specific style icon; style changes constantly, everyone’s tastes change with the different seasons, mine included, so some days I could like what a particular celebrities wearing then the next week not like a different outfit of theirs. At the moment though I feel that people like Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid are on top for street style, not exactly what I’d opt for, but I really respect their styles. And then there’s women such as Anna Wintour, who is a timeless icon, not just for style, but the whole fashion industry.
Please summarise the concept behind your design in one sentence: A women’s floral, feminine, SS16 inspired dress, suitable for a summer day but also a special occasion.
