Deck The Malls Competition – 2019!
We have recently launched our popular ‘Deck the Malls’ competition, and are now asking the people of Romford and its surrounding areas to choose their favourite design.
Following an overwhelming number of entries, The Mayor Of Havering, Michael Deon Burton, selected a winner whose design will soon be announced and placed on a giant bauble near The Liberty’s Christmas tree as part of the centre’s festive decorations.
During the unveiling ceremony, the winner of the bauble competition and a group from their primary school will be able to celebrate by singing Christmas carols around the our Christmas tree. The children will then get the opportunity to visit the Mayor’s Parlour for festive treats and mince pies. The school where the winning student attends will also be awarded a £100 cheque.
This year, the event will have an extra bit of sparkle. The public are able to vote from the top 10 selected designs as part of the ‘People’s choice award’ through The Liberty’s Facebook page.
The winning design will be placed on a giant star, which will also be included as part of the shopping centre’s decorations. The winner of the People’s Choice Award will be invited with a group from their school to view the Star and celebrate by singing Christmas carols and receive a £100 cheque for their school.
To vote, head to The Liberty’s Facebook page (@LibertyRomford), find the competitions dedicated gallery and ‘like’ your favourite design, the competition will close at midnight on Sunday 8th December. Make sure you ‘Like’ The Liberty’s Facebook page to be the first to find out who the winner is.
Jonathan Poole, Centre Manager at The Liberty, said: “The creativity from children in the Deck The Malls competition is always extraordinary, especially with the added star competition this year.
“The event marks the start of Christmas here at The Liberty and we can’t wait to see the winning designs in the centre over the festive period.”
