Linda Calvey Book Signing of Black Widow at Waterstones
Meet East End legend and former gangster, Linda Calvey as she signs books at Waterstones in The Liberty Shopping Centre on Saturday 3rd August at 12pm.
Accused of murder and imprisoned for 18 years, Linda Calvey is shining a light on her experiences as one of East End’s gangsters. Rubbing shoulders with the likes of the Krays and Freddie Foreman, Calvey’s new book, Black Widow delves into the murky depths of gangster culture.
Eleven years following her release from prison, Calvey’s now leads a quiet life with her family and is a proud grandmother. Black Widow has given her the chance to reflect on post-war London, her life and the impact of her participation in London’s criminal underworld.
A refreshing and honest biography spanning her childhood to present day, Calvey’s new book is an exciting insight into gangster society and the British prison system. She has shared prisons with the like of notorious murders, Rosemary West and Myra Hyndly as well as numerous marriage proposals from the likes of Charles Bronson and Reggie Kray.
Calvey’s life offers a remarkable read, from becoming the wife of Mickey Calvey to taking part in armed robberies, Black Widow is a stark and honest portrayal of criminal life in the East End crime circuit.
She will be visiting Waterstones at The Liberty on Saturday 3rd August and will be available to sign books for true-crime fans at 12pm.
