THE LIBERTY RETAILER AWARDS WIN TOP OF THE SHOPS

The Liberty shopping centre was the location for excellence as they hosted the 2009 Annual Retailer Awards on Friday 25th September. The Awards ceremony was held on stage in the main square with a breakfast reception which was also held in conjunction with the Macmillan World's biggest Coffee morning charity.

Attendees were Liberty shoppers and retailers, as well as local dignitaries The Worshipful, The Mayor of Havering, Councillor, Roger Ramsey and Mayoress of Havering, Mark Sweetingham, Editor of the Romford Recorder Newspaper, David Collins, General Manager of The Liberty, Peter Streams from Time 107.5 fm radio, Leader Councillor Michael White Leader of Havering and Lynn Clark from the Queens Hospital.

Primark was crowned with the Shoppers Retailer of the Year award after receiving the majority of votes from members of the public.

The 2009 Winners voted for by their fellow retailers within The Liberty shopping centre, were:-
• Best Window display award - Monsoon/Accessorize
• Best Events contribution award - Paul Falltrick Hairdressing
• Best Customer service award - Marks & Spencer
• Best Independent retailer award - Italianissimo
• Shoppers Retailer of the year award - Primark
• Retailer of the Year award - Top Shop

Jo Koster, Manager of Top Shop and winner of the Retailer of the year award commented "It's fantastic to achieve this award as we fought off stiff competition from the finalists in our category Debenhams and Primark. It's an honour to be nominated by our peers, it also reflects the hard work of our fantastic team.

General Manager of The Liberty shopping centre David Collins commented "Customer service remains the biggest marketing tool for any retail/shopping centre. As a collective, all of the retailers at The Liberty shopping centre play a vital role in ensuring that we achieve our goal, which is to provide our shoppers with an enjoyable shopping experience. The Retailer awards provide a unique opportunity to recognise the excellence of our retailers and a thank you to them for their consistent dedication and hard work.
